[News] BIRTE Presentation, SoCC Poster, and VLDB Participation

Anatoli Shein presented a poster at the ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing 2015 (SoCC'15) and a paper at the 9th International Workshop on Business Intelligence for Real Time Enterprise (BIRTE'15). Both his poster and paper were entitled Processing of Aggregate Continuous Queries in a Distributed Environment on the Big Island in Hawaii.

Nathan Ong, Stephen Rojcewicz, Dr. Nicholas Farnan, Dr. Adam Lee, Dr. Chrysanthis, Dr. Ting Yu (North Carolina State University) have a demo entitled "Interactive Preference-Aware Query Optimization" in ICDE 2015 in Seoul, South Korea.

[News] Pittsburgh Data Works initiative launches on March 21st, 2013

Professors Chrysanthis and Labrinidis are members of the advisory committee that has founded the Pittsburgh DataWorks initiative, whose aim is to bring together organizations and people working on "big data" throughout southwestern PA, with the ultimate goal of supporting ongoing initiatives and attracting big data talent and investments to the US’s “most livable city”.

Roxana Gheorghiu successfully defended her PhD proposal on February 4th, 2013. The topic of her PhD dissertation will be "Unifying qualitative and quantitative database preferences to enhance query personalization". Congratulations to Roxana! More details can be found in the event's post.
