[News] Panos K. Chrysanthis talked at U. of Maryland On May 14, 2013

Professor Chrysanthis in his talk in the Computer Science Department of the University of Maryland briefly discussed the current ADMT projects related to Big Data and presented DILoS, A Dynamic Integrated Load Manager and Scheduler for Continuous Queries, which focuses on three of the Eight Big Data's Vs, that is, volume, velocity and variability.

[News][13th Annual CS Day] Many congratulations to Thao, Roxana, and Nick!

In this year's CS Day Event, Thao Pham won first price at the Poster Competition with her poster "Avoiding class warefare: Managing continuous queries in a multi-tenant environment with differentiated classes of service". Congratulations!

[News] Pittsburgh Data Works initiative launches on March 21st, 2013

Professors Chrysanthis and Labrinidis are members of the advisory committee that has founded the Pittsburgh DataWorks initiative, whose aim is to bring together organizations and people working on "big data" throughout southwestern PA, with the ultimate goal of supporting ongoing initiatives and attracting big data talent and investments to the US’s “most livable city”.

Congratulations to Lory AI Moakar who won the Taulbee Award today. With the Taulbee Award, the Department of Computer Science recognizes graduate student excellence and promise as a teacher and researcher based on overall QPA, teaching ability and research work.

Also congratulating Thao Pham, who was recognized today for being awarded an Andrew Mellon Predoctoral Fellowships (one of the three that were awarded to our Department).
