Purpose: |
|
This seminar course will be organized as a start-up
company aiming to build the next generation in-memory data management
system capable of processing both transactions and continuous queries,
i.e., able to run analytics in real-time, using SQL. Towards this goal,
the participants will study recent advances in data and information management
and their interactions with emerging computer architectures and cloud
infrastructures. Particular emphasis will be placed on techniques which optimize
for energy-efficiency in addition to the traditional QoS/QoD metrics.
Finally, participants will work in groups to develop AstrapiDB, Pitt's
Millennials' DBMS, which they can use to support their own research.
